    Hi,
I have language packs installed on my EE 1.6.9 system, and they work wonderfully.

However, I have not figured out how to fully use them. The site default language is english, but a user chooses their preferred language using localization settings.

    How do I:

Have the Welcome Email text appear in the users selected language?
Have the password reset email appear in the users selected language?
    etc.

I have solspace user module, but could use that or the native EE email templates.  However, they all seem to only send email from the english.  I see the other languages in lang.core and in lang.member and lang.email, etc.  So I know that the french version of these messages exists…. how do I get my EE system to send out the system messages and emails as per the language pack?

The language packs are working fine for form error messages, and for the CP.  But I need the emails and system messages to be using teh language pack as well if possible!

    Thanks for your help!

Yes, that’s how the system works.

Please go to Admin > Specialty Templates > Email Notification Templates > Mailing List Activation Instructions and deselect “Enable This Template?”

EE will then generate the template dynamically in each user’s chosen language. You will probably have to repeat that for other templates as well.

Aha.  Thanks, that explains the mystery.  I knew it was possible, just didn’t really see the directions about enabling/unenabling the template.

    Thanks,

    Hi
This is not working yet for me.

I went and changed the “enable template” to no on all the email templates.

But I just registered on my site as a new user, with my language preference as French.
I check the Admin > View Members, and I see my new user, who is “pending”, with localization set to French.  So that worked.

However, the activation email that went out to the new user is in English.  it is NOT the custom template, which had different language, but the default language. But it’s in English!  Can you let me know how to have it generate in french?

Here is the email that I received:

Thank you for your new member registration.

To activate your new account, please visit the following URL:

    [activation code is here….]

    Thank You!

    [site name here…..]

    [site url here…]

You can see that it’s the correct default language—but not in french.

Also, sorry, one other related question.
When I click on the activation, I go to a page that looks correct, but again has the English default language in it:

    Your account has been activated.

You may now log in and begin using it.

This user is in the Members database with localization to french, and i have the french language packs installed.  I can’t figure out what setting I am missing…

Once you’ve activated this account, does it, in fact, show the French version of your site as it were?
