    Hi,

I could do with some help here, my titles are being cut of after about 59 characters. The entries of which the titles are cut of are created through moblog. I understand that the maximum default length is 100 characters. Unfortunately I am not sure were to start looking to solve this so any help in this is appreciated.

    I have:
    EE 1.6.9
    Build: 20100430

    Regards,
    Tammo

Hi, Tammo. How are you posting to the moblog? What are you using?

Hi Sue, a newswire (PRNewswire) is sending me full text press releases in plain text format. I also receive them in another mailbox and then they have the full title in the subject. When I manually post the releases (or any other entry) the title length is fine. So it seems something is cutting it off.

    Regards,
    Tammo

So in other words, you’re using that particular email account as your moblog account. If you send an email to that same email address, does the same thing happen?

Yes and no,I did the test and these are the results:

Entry title sent through newswire: UFC® Fans Select Matt Serra as the Recipient of
Entry title sent with my own mail: UFCR Fans Select Matt Serra as the Recipient of theTequila C
Original title: UFC® Fans Select Matt Serra as the Recipient of theTequila CAZADORES® Spirit Award for UFC 119

Strange that the the two titles both differ but none actually get to 100 characters.

I also checked the Ignore Email Text in Moblog config but nothing that even comes close to theTequila or AZADORES

Can you try a title without the ® symbol in it?

I tried the following with the following title results:
    - Newswire through moblog: Orient-Express Hotels Ltd. Third Quarter 2010 News Release and
    - Own mail through moblog: Orient-Express Hotels Ltd. Third Quarter 2010 News Release and Conference Call
    - Manual posting: Orient-Express Hotels Ltd. Third Quarter 2010 News Release and Conference Call

So manual and through (own) mail is fine but with the newswire message the Conference Call bit is cut off.

About the only thing I can suggest is to view the contents of the email before you process it through the moblog. Is the title OK then?

I don’t have an account to test with to see if I can replicate if the issue has to do with the service.

Hi, sorry for the late reply, to view the content of the mail I think I would need to set the File Archive Mode to Yes and then check the content of the mail at the upload location. I will do so shortly and let you know. Btw, I can include you in the news feed by mail if you give me a mail address. I am curious to know if it happens to you as well but can understand if you don’t want to go through the hassle.

    regards,
    Tammo

I’d like to test it with EE1.6.9 as well as EE2.1 in order to see if it’s an issue with that version as well. How soon are you going to upgrade to 2.1 or are you for this project?

I have got so many add-ons that I would first need to investigate if all add-ons are compatible with 2.1. or require an update (if available) before upgrading. I haven’t much time at the moment (as you may have noticed ;0) so it may take some time (couple of months).

Let me know if you want some of the press releases to be send for testing.

    Cheers,
    Tammo

Perhaps you could upgrade to EE 1.7? That shouldn’t be too difficult, and would also help us to rule out file corruption and make sure that we are, in fact, on the same page in terms of code.

Ok, I will do so and let you know when done (hopefully after this weekend).

Finally had the chance to upgrade to 1.7, let’s see how things go the coming days.

In the mean time I did try one thing. The mails which are send to my moblog mailaddress are now also send to my normal mailbox. From there I can see that the full length title is part of the mail. So I know that the newswire does send the full title within the (flat text) mails.

    Regards,
    Tammo
