    Hi all,

I have a Products channel. They sometimes use different template_group/template and don’t have their own categories.

And i have also an independent another channel called Testimonials for those products. However in this second channel i made categories which are actually site map for products. I manually update Testimonial categories.

    Products channel

    +Product Main
    —Product 1
    —Product 2
    ....

    Testimonial channel

    +Testimonial Main
    —Testimonial 1 (category Product 1)
    —Testimonial 2 (category Product 2)
    ....

Somehow i try to attach those Testimonials with products, but i couldnt’t manage it. Products have different template_group/template so dynamically i don’t know to say which Testimonial Category group to call.

Very confusing, even i lost myself… Basically i try to make relationships between channels via categories.

Guidance much appreciated. Maybe there is another way to handle this.

Wouldn’t related entries work for that?

Indeed it worked with the help of reverse related entries.

The only thing is, for multiple relations i think i have to enter as many relationship field as possible. Is there any other way?

    Thank a lot!

You may want to peruse Devot-ee.com to see if there’s anything there that might help you.

I use Playa, but there are others out there.

    Does that help?

    Thanks Sue,

i deliberately didnt look for extensions option because i want to learn working internals of EE by not using 3rd party applications. At some point i will definitely look those extensions to increase my productivity and development time.

As far as i experience with EE most of the difficulty i face is when i want to behave URL at a certain semantic structure that i want rather then workings of EE. Also dynamic navigation always seems to be problematic for me either i use categories or channel way.

    Hi orionlogic,

Glad Sue helped. It sounds like you have a solution, but if you’d like I can move this to the CodeShare Corner to get you further input. Just let us know.
