    Hello, I really, really need help. I hate to beg, but please, somebody help me.

    PROBLEM #1:
    I cannot find documentation on HOW to add a secure section to the site. Not the CP, the front facing site. I need to have an area that users log in and see content that is not viewable and searchable by the general, non-logged in site visitor. SURELY this is possible. And, I understood when I bought the license it was part of the functionality. Perhaps I am missing this in the documentation. PLEASE TELL ME WHERE THIS INFORMATION IS.
    I cannot proceed without it.

    PROBLEM #2
    I purchased Wygwam and have completely installed and uninstalled it twice already. I see the custom field but it has no tool bar or anything else to distinguish it as a Wysiwyg editor. I have contacted the Wygwam people and they have nicely tried to help. I see in IE that I get an error saying “Wygwam is undefined”.
    Can anybody assist me with this?

    These 2 things are the reason that we bought a license. To have secure page section and to have a wysiwyg editor. Tomorrow there will be a pack of angry ballerinas mad at me for not providing them ANYTHING so far for their $149 for license and $35 for Wygwam. I would greatly appreciate any assistance to resolve either one of these problems.

    Thank you,
    Donna

    Wow, no one likes unhappy ballerinas… couple of basics:

    Security is a relative term. EE does include the functionality to include/exclude certain members from viewing certain things, try looking at:
    http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/modules/channel/parameters.html#par_group_id

    This allows you to show hide anything dependant on member group:

    {if group_id == "1|4|7"}
    You're an admin or a content admin or whatever group #7 is, here's a heap of stuff only you can see
    {if:else}
    You're not an admin, you get nothing or a cute photo of puppies
    {/if}

    Wygwam is a 3rd party application and not EE’s direct issue.

    There are plenty of peeps here to try and help you through. Try taking a softer tone and having a general flick through some of the best documentation ever created for a CMS.

    In my experience, stay away from IE for management, it’s bad period. No one will have issue if they must use FF or chrome to administer the site as long as all can view it in the browser of choice.

    I definitely agree on the IE issue. I am a loyal FF’er. I just popped the site open in IE to see the results (as sometimes they are distinct) and was able to grab the error message IE produced as a “clue” to the nature of the Wygwam issue.

    Turns out the original download was incomplete, scripts were missing and therefore not able to be called. The very helpful man at Wygwam support nicely emailed me the zip file to reupload and the app worked very well.

    Thanks very much!!

    Thanks for the assist, Cheif. DonnaLilly, are you all set? Any remaining questions?

    :-D I am all set for now and no more questions for today! I will optimistically hope that I have now crossed the bridge from operating in the dark to having an inkling of what I am doing in EE. If not… I will try to time my next disaster during normal business hours. (Which is honestly sort of hard to do as I do this stuff on the side, aka “weekends”)

    Sounds good. I promise we’ll be here if/when there are other questions 😊 Thanks.
