Moving 1.6.9 from plesk vps to dedicated cpanel, uploads not working

After moving a site from my current plesk VPS server as I normally do, everything worked just fine, except for uploads. Verified all the permissions, tried creating new folders but no luck.

I then installed a fresh copy of EE on the new cpanel server and all again looked ok but I can still not upload.

When I try to use the file manager module to upload a file I get “An error of an unknown type was encountered.”

When I use MX UniEditor and Fieldframe It will create my sub folder and picture does get uploaded but the upload pop-up goes blank at the point I was to choose the new file to be inserted in the field. The “tinybrowser” windows just becomes empty.

This has to be something related to how this new server is handling security. The old server would list any of the subfolders and files as belonging to “apache” for the owner and “apache” group. The new folders on the server are listed as “nobody” and “nobody”.

Anyone have any issues running EE 1.6.9 on a FreeBSD and cpanel? Mainly the upload functions?

    Thanks
    Mike

FYI the EE “Upload File” works in the publish page, but any other uploads fail,
the file manager also work now that I turned off “open_basedir” to “no value”, at least I think that is why it works now.

    Some more info

If I change the MZ UniEditor “Upload Sub Folders”  variables, the first time I open the field on the publish page it shows me that it created the sub folder, allows me to browse and select my picture, then I press the upload. The “TinyBrowser upload” window then goes blank, no place to select the new file.

But if I check the server files the picture was created and in the new folder and the “_thumbs” sub folder was also created but is empty.

Now every time I go back to that field and select the tiny browser to upload a pic the box comes up blank. Unless I change the “Upload Sub Folders”  variables.

SO the permission has to be correct or nothing would be uploaded or no folders created, so I’m lost…

    Mike,

What from I can gather you have confirmed that EE Upload File and the File Manager work after turning off the open_basedir setting?

We don’t support third-party add-ons I’m afraid so you will have to contact the author of MZ UniEditor who might be able to shed some light on it.
