    I have ExpressionEngine v 1.6.8.

I have a web site that accepts user comments.  Had the site for years.

Suddenly, tons of users can’t post links in the comments.  This development is quite surprising, as we did nothing to make it happen.

    Example:

    Action Denied: Blacklisted Item Found
    http://www.poynter.org/column.asp?id=45&aid=190064

Any idea how to stop this from happening?

Your users appear to be experiencing the affects of the Blacklist module - http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/modules/blacklist/index.html

Did you recently update it, or are all of the users trying to enter terms that might appear in the existing blacklist?

Disabling the blacklist module should be an immediate fix, but it woudl seem somethign iin your users posts is triggering the error you see.

Agree with Daniel here, something on your blacklist is being triggered. UserAgent, perhaps? (Partial) IP-Address? Something like that.

I understand what you are saying, but we’re just talking about being able to post links to news sites—like local news sites, or places like Democracy Now!  We have been doing these kinds of links literally for years, and I have not added anything (at least not knowingly or purposefully) to the blacklist.  How do I get something removed from the blacklist?

It occurred to me, if I accidentally did something, deleting then reinstalling the module should work.

I’ll update this strand when I see what my users report.

    Thanks!
