Right now our sites are pretty low traffic. A few hundred a day for each site (4). However this could change greatly with the new site we are making for our publication with a subscription base of 80,000.

What are some options for scalable hosting? Right now shared hosting (bluehost) is working, but our box is down more than any other I’ve had (set up and monitor about 6 BH accounts and they are rarely down). I’m looking into other options.

Engine Hosting seems like a good fit. Obviously EE friendly, scalable, and affordable. Any others to consider? Any to avoid? Anyonoe else use BH and having more issues than before?

I would check out Rackspace. The best setup and service to your needs as far as hosting. The agency I work for has had a great success with going with these guys and a large traffic EE site. I’m not the most knowledgeable as far as scalability, and we had the same concerns with traffic. You might speak with a sales rep, but they are knowledgeable but where your questioning might need answers they get the server tech’s on the phone as well. They really know there stuff. Give them a call and the best option for setup.

thanks. THey sure do make it hard to figure out how their products and prices compare! Not a very user friendly site. I like nice tables to compare with prices. They use all kinds of lingo and marketing speak and bury their prices pretty deep in the site. Regardless, I’ll look into them. I think I actually know a guy who works for them in San Antonio.

I signed up with enginehosting.com this week and had a few issues that Brandon resolved within minutes, haven’t found that level of service anywhere.
I’m only on their smallest plan but would imagine the bigger plans would work for your expected traffic levels.
