    Hi,

    I was wondering if anyone knows a workaround for my problem. I converted SMF forum to EE and didn’t really study how my client was managing it’s members 😊 Now I noticed they had 1 user in more than one group and I can’t do it in EE.

    Here’s how they had in SMF

    Board members 2010 -> user1 user2 user3
    Board members 2009 -> user1 user2 user5

    Board members in 2010 have access to Board 2010
    Board members in 2009 have access to Board 2009

    etc…

    So all the new members this year have access to this years board + they have privileges to earlier boards if they were members of that group. This way they have to create a new group every year and if someone is kicked out of the group he/she can still view earlier boards etc…

    Also some of the “members of the board 2010” are moderators ...

    Good times

    Jarno F,

    You are very limited in this circumstance by only being allowed 1 group per member. I tried thinking of a few different approaches for you but none really panned out unfortunately.

    I am going to move this to the CodeShare Corner to open up your dilemma to the community

    You are welcome to add your voice to the feature request of having a member part of more than one group too.

    Added my voice. Couldn’t find any threads on this so I posted a new one: http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/168018/

    Hi Jarno,

    This is the most powerful feature for any community wesite we are missing in EE :(

    I vote for it +1,
