    Hello,

I upgraded my EE from 1.6.9 to 2.1.0 and it works fine and after that I tried to upgrade the forum module from 2.2.0 to 3.1.0 but didn“t work. Could you please help me with this?

    This is the error message:

    A Database Error Occurred

    Error Number: 1091

    Can’t DROP ‘member_id’; check that column/key exists

ALTER TABLE `exp_forum_read_topics` DROP KEY `member_id`

    Patata_killer,

Can you provide some more detail please?

Is this an upgrade from 1.6.9 to 2.1?
Was your version of EE1.6.9 a fresh install originally or an upgrade from a previous version?

Can you confirm the version and build of EE you are currently on and also the build and version of the Forums installed and the one you are trying to install?

    Hi John,

Yes, this is an upgrade from 1.6.9 to 2.1

EE 1.6.9 was NOT a fresh install, I have been using EE since version 1.4x

These are the versions and builds that I am using:

    *************************************

    Before:

    ExpressionEngine:
    1.6.9 - Build: 20100430
    EE 2 Discussion Forum Module:
    2.2.0 - Build: 20100625

    Trying to install:

    ExpressionEngine:
    2.1.0 - Build: 20100810 (Status: working fine)
    EE 2 Discussion Forum Module:
    3.1.0 - Build: 20100805 (Status: NOT working)

    *************************************

Please let me know if you need more information.

    Thanks,

Hi, PK - I am sorry about the delay responding here.  I am not quite sure why this has gone unanswered so long, but I can assure you that we are investigating the delay.

Can you take us through the steps that you used to upgrade the Discussion Forum module?  Did your EE 1 > EE 2 upgrade go correctly, without errors?  No time-outs or similar?

    Also, could you go here:

Tools > Data > SQL Manager, then click on “Manage Database Tables”

Scroll down to exp_forum_read_topics and let us know if there is a member_id column there?

    Thank you.

    Hi Lisa,

The upgrade went correctly from EE 1 > EE 2, no errors. In fact, I also tried on a subdomain and I got the same result.

    Yes, “member_id” is there.

    exp_forum_read_topics has:

    member_id
    board_id
    topics

    Patata,

Please go to CP Home > Tools > Data > SQL Manager > Manage Database Tables, select the exp_forum_read_topics table and at the bottom choose “Repair selected tables”. Does that fix the error?

Patata, fiddling with databases can be a pain at times. It’s probably time to go look at your install and assist with troubleshooting. Please check your email in a few minutes.

First question - does the MySQL user have permission to drop? The table has the right info in it..

    Patata_killer,

Can I get you to upgrade to our latest version of EE2.1.1 please?
The latest build of the Discussion forum is now 20101018. So if I could also get you to try download that and try the upgrade then after your EE update.

    Thanks again for your patience.
