I wonder how well EE can handle this out of the box, or if I’d need some 3rd party plugins to begin with.

The other options are the usual suspects: Wordpress, Drupal, custom CMS (rails/django), which are what I’ve been using lately.

The requirements are quite common: facebook+twitter+flickr integration, photo galleries (maybe driven by Slideshow Pro), blog, events with associated poster and galleries.

    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the forums, dedaluz,

ExpressionEngine can meet these needs.  Devot-ee.com has third-party solutions for Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr; photo galleries can be handled with a number of approaches, from an entry per image, to Matrix and [url=http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/channel-images/]Channel Images/url].

If you can share more about your project, I’d be happy to advise you on if EE is a good fit.

    Thank you.
