    Hi,

I am trying to get NSM .htaccess Generator to work on an EE 2.1.0 site.  I’m not sure where in the forums to post this.  In the olden days I would post in under Third Party tools.

    Thanks,
    John

    Thanks Sue!

I am totally new to working with .htaccess files, and naturally I am having trouble making NSM .htaccess generator work on an EE 2.1.0 site.

    The build is: 20100810

    We are running:
    Apache 2.2 14
    PHP 5.3.2

I have followed the instructions in the documentation:

    http://expressionengine-addons.com/nsm-htaccess-generator/user-guide

Nothing is happening.  Here is the site:

    http://ubuntu.pedrera.com/sites/pedrera/

I’m pretty sure I have followed every step in the documentation.  In addition to performing these steps, are there other things that need to be done in the EE wiki article on the “include” file method?

    http://expressionengine.com/wiki/Remove_index.php_From_URLs/#Include_List_Method

One thing is: we are using Structure 2.1.5; I have read that .htaccess Generator was not really designed to work with Structure—but that it would work somewhat. I have not managed to make it work at all.

    Thanks!
    John

    Thanks for your help, Kyle.

I modified the NSM template as indicated. Unfortunately it’s still not working.

I must be missing something. Two things confuse me in the NSM/EE documentation:

    1. In the template is it necessary to replace {ee:404} with the name of my 404 template—or will this be replaced automatically when an upate is performed?

    2. Just to confirm—I should delete “index.php” from the General Configuration settings?  The “Name of your site’s index page” should be blank?

I regret that these are such basic questions.

    1. I don’t think you have to change that. It should work automatically.
    2. Yes. The “Name of your site’s index page” field should be blank and the “URL to the root directory of your site” shouldn’t end with “index.php”, so instead of

    <a href="http://yoursitename.com/index.php">http://yoursitename.com/index.php</a>
    change that field to
    <a href="http://yoursitename.com/">http://yoursitename.com/</a>

    Thanks again!

It’s still not working. But it’s good to eliminate those two suspects 😊

    Hi there,

    What worked for me:

    1. Download the latest version of NSM .htaccess Generator and upgrade EE to the latest build.
    2. Download and install morphine (but I guess that’s done)
    3. Create a blank .htaccess file on your server and make sure it’s writable (try 777)
    4. Enter the full path to your .htaccess “pathtorootfolder/.htaccess” in the extension settings
    5. Save extension settings
    6. check that you have two messages in the CP:
NSM .htaccess Generator: File generated successfully
NSM .htaccess Generator: Extension settings have been saved.

    PS: not using structure here.

Did you try disabling structure to sse if compatibility between the two was indeed the problem ?

Thanks g-rom.  I will try your suggestions.  We will need to use structure for the site though.

I am having the same problem as John. Anyone out there have any ideas? I’m running Structure as well and I keep getting 404s on every page but the home page.

I’m not running structure but NSM .htaccess generator wouldn’t work for me, it just duplicated the Home Page content across the whole site, I would love to get it working, seems like a big timesaver but I had to remove it for the time being

    Hey guys,

Here’s a link to support for sites in sub-folders: http://expressionengine-addons.com/nsm-htaccess-generator/support#toc-common_issues:subfolders

Also for general support you can submit a ticket here: http://expressionengine-addons.com/nsm-htaccess-generator/support

Suport is not provided via the EE forums. You can red more about it here: http://ellislab.com/blog/entry/third_party_add-on_policies_for_the_new_forums/

When you resolve the issue please add [RESOLVED] to the title of this thread.

    Cheers Leevi
