Saved-out template not updating front-end website

This question may be related to a resolved thread.

As per the issue on the above link, I thought that templates were all working fine for this new MSM site, I was wrong unfortunately:

I can now create a template group for the new site, then save my template as a file successfully. The template folder and template are created fine within the new site structure from which I can update locally and then copy back to the server. Now it starts to get a bit weird….

If I view the page/template from the front-end it hasn’t updated. So after taking a look at the template within the CP, it has updated so why is it not showing it on the actual front-end website? Bizarrely, if I then click ‘update’ from within the CP is does actually update the front-end.

Does anyone know why this might be happening?

I have managed to fix this now.

As I was running the new site under MSM and storing the files within that structure on the server, I had a relative path in the ‘Basepath to Template File Directory’. I have now changed this to a full server path and it works and updates the site properly.

Don’t quite understand why it didn’t work the other way, as I could still save out the template files. It must have just not been updating the database?

    Anyway, all good.

    Hi Richard,

Glad you got it working. Generally, stick to full paths unless EE specifically states to use a relative one. Don’t hesitate to post again!
