I can’t turn off ‘auto link URLs’.

I have tried:

Admin ›  Weblog Administration ›  Weblog Management ›  Edit Weblog Preferences

Automatically turn URLs and email addresses into links? - NO

(see attached)

I have even set the following in core.typography:

var $auto_links                 = 'n';

What else do I need to do to turn this darned thing off?

ExpressionEngine 1.6.9
Build:  20100430

It’s a per weblog setting, have you turned it off for all the weblogs you are using?

Yes, as per screenshot, I have checked and double-checked that it is turned off for the weblog which I am using.

Please go ahead and revert core.typography.php to its original state.

Can you show us a simplified template where this is occurring and tell us what is in the custom field? A link would be great too.

Thanks for your help. The custom field contains plain text. The formattng is set to ‘none’

The url which is being turned into a link is in {vug_description}.

I have tried removing the typography plugin, to no effect.

I have found a work-around for now so it’s not urgent, but thanks for assisting 😊

You’re a few builds behind.. can we have you upgrade? Also what third party extensions are you using?
