I allowed my templates to be save as files in the CP global preferences, activated “save template as file” for each template…

now I can edit/create templates in Coda and my site shows the updates…

    to preview updates in Coda:
I created a file named “.htaccess” with only this content inside:

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteRule ^(.*)\.php$ /index.php/$1 [L,R=301]

and put this file in folder: system>template_files>default_site>site.group

I am not able to preview my pages in Coda…
I have tried reading “htaccess” recommendations in the web, but not able to get it…
    am I missing something?

If you look at your editable files, you’ll see they aren’t .php files, they are .html files.

I don’t use Coda, so I can’t speak to that..

Thanks Sue, I changed “php” for “html”... but it doesn’t do anything different…

Since this is not an EE issue as such I’ll just move this over to “General”.

If I understand your question, you try to open the .htaccess file with Coda. But your problem is that you don’t see the file in the template directory.
If this is your problem then you need to enable “Show hidden files”. You can do this under “View” or by using the shortcut Cmd-Shift-B.

R Gruyters, when I try to preview any template file in coda, it shows “previewed” code, but not really a preview of the site… here is an example image…

That is how Coda works. You have to enter the URL yourself. As far as I know you can’t use preview the way you want to use it.

ohh, I got it… jaja… (shame of me)... jaja

wow, I did not have enough curiosity to put an address there… I’am getting old… now I understand what I was hopping before: big magic!...

but it works fine using the “Coda-browser” there… well, if you do not close the preview page for the code page you are editing…

    big thanks Gruyters… (Sue, Ingmar)...

    now, second thoughts…

if Coda puts some functionality: you register the pages where you will be “previewing” (or testing) the site being developed…
that will be a semi-magic!... any Coda-guys here?...

Yes, that would be sweet. Did you find this post?

    Has anybody figured this out?

I followed the instructions in this post to the letter—http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/141438/—but with no luck.

It seems that Coda simply isn’t using the information in the .htaccess file when previewing html files. Apparently the folks posting at the above link back in January 2010 were able to make it work, but I’m stumped.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
