    i’m using ee 1.69

i have a group for authors so that they can upload articles to my site. once uploaded, the article is approved by an editor and opened.

it seems there are at least 2 authors, who for unknown reasons, can’t finish the entry process.

the author was able to bring his mini-toshiba laptop running Windows 7 over to me to show me the problem.

he’s filled in the proper fields that are required, as did i on his machine, and when submit or quick save are clicked, it says “transferring from” looking like all is going thru, but it ends, and it hasn’t added the entry to the edit list, as if submit was never enacted. other than the “transferring”, it doesn’t seem like anything happens, all the information stays in the respective fields, but without uploading, info is lost when navigated away from.

i also tried logging into the author’s account, and i have no problems at all.

oddly, with IE, the author can log into the control panel, but in Firefox, same problem with clicking a button. no response, can’t log in to control panel.

the same results also happened when the author tried from a University owned computer (UW Madison)

anyone ever have this type of problem?

    rokker,

What build of EE are you using?
    Are you using any extensions?

Just to confirm. The issue is on Firefox on the author’s machine? When he used the University computer was that Firefox also?

You mentioned when you tried you had no problem with the author’s account.
How does your Firefox version compare to the authors and Universitys?

it says “transferring from” looking like all is going thru,

Where do you see this text? Can you get a screenshot for us please?
    Were there any JavaScript errors?

Hey John, i know, it is confusing isn’t it…

    EE 1.69 Build:  20100415

i have no idea what the “university” computer was using, he’s not a “firefox” guy so i imagine it was IE at the UW

when he brought his mini-Toshiba Laptop, running Windows 7, there was only IE on his system. that version of IE would let him log into the control panel but not add the entry to the database upon clicking quick-save, submit.

then i downloaded and installed Firefox on his machine, just a few days ago so whatever is the latest edition, firefox would not let him log-in to the control panel. there was no “action” when the mouse was used to depress log-in button.

when i log into his account from my machine, everything works as planned.

i had another of my authors report a similar problem before, but i didn’t think much of it. she just reminded me. she was trying to submit an article from her work, on a “work” computer.

at the time, i figured it must be some “firewall” type control within their network as again, logging in with her account produced successful results and no problems.

i’m thinking it must be something outside of EE that is doing this, but what is the question.

    thanx for any suggestions.

    oops.

    forgot about extensions:

    Edit Alert (v.1.1)
    Tag Submit (v.2.0.7)
jQuery for the Control Panel (v.1.1.1)
    FieldFrame (v.1.4.2)
    Simple SAEF Enctype (v.0.0.1)
    Edit Tab AJAX (v.1.2.2)
    Edit Menu (v.1.0.2)

    no javascript errors

and the “transferring” text is in the bottom left of the browser where you can see what link you’ll be going to, or what your browser is doing/downloading. the status, many times it says “done” there.

    Hi rokker,

Are you able to temporarily disable extensions to rule that out as a cause? Then have them log out, clear their browser cache completely and log back in.
