+1 for Coda
Although there’s no auto-complete for EE, there are snippets and syntax modes available which can help (Which John pointed out above: http://hellomountee.com/expressionengine-dev-toolkit/).

I’ll just throw out that I dig e-texteditor (http://www.e-texteditor.com/) for Windows. It’s a great attempt at Textmate for Windows and has the same bundle/snippet functionality that textmate does. Costs a little bit, but worth every cent for me.

If anyone is interested, I managed to create a EE 1.x version of the Coda syntax mode (kudos to Hellomountee for the original files, of course). The big “plus” is also a better color scheme (that could be ported to the EE 2.x version), closed to Textmate’s or Expresso’s. However, I didn’t change anything to the “clips” as I think they aren’t that useful.

TextWrangler (free from the BBedit people) along with Fetch (ftp program) works well for the non-programmer on the mac. This combo allows you to open, edit and save all the text, php and css files from afar.
That is, you don’t have all the bells and whistles, but if you are just fiddling with the basics, they will do.
If I was a full time developer, I’d spring for one of those others, but I already own BBedit (from way back) and that does the job also.

UltraEdit is now available for both the PC and Mac. It’s my favorite editor on the PC, and been using it quite a bit on the Mac.

I use Coda with snippets and syntax mode. I love it, Panic did a great job with the usability and the UI of the program.

I didnt mean to disrespect. I know Google, but the word of mouth is much stronger. 😊
I agree.
This is where I get the best recommendations.
I’d rather buy a product if YOU told me about it, and I could ask you question. Than if I were to read about it on some website.
