Something is definitively up with my EE install. After adding and removing a custom field and a category, I’m unable to save the form and I see the below category error messages. Please note, when I created these categories I got a PHP error as well (sorry didn’t capture it)

    Categories
No categories have been assigned to this channel.
    A PHP Error was encountered
    Severity: Notice
    Message: Undefined offset: 19
    Filename: content/publish.php
    Line Number: 141
    A PHP Error was encountered

    A PHP Error was encountered
    Severity: Notice
    Message: Undefined offset: 19
    Filename: content/publish.php
    Line Number: 164

When I attempted to uninstall the fieldtype for the first error (PT Pill), I get the below error.

    A PHP Error was encountered
    Severity: Notice
    Message: Undefined index: 12
    Filename: addons/Addons_installer.php
    Line Number: 368

This MAY be related to this issue.

When trying to fix the layout, I get this errror.
“There was a problem saving your layout.  The following fields have invalid characters in the short names: missing_name”

So short of an uninstall (I’ve done far too much work). What should I do?

    James B,

Which version and build are you on? Was it an upgrade?

The first thing I’d try is resetting your layouts on the Publish page. Select all groups in the sidebar and click Remove layout. Let us know if that helps.

    v2.1.0
    Build:  20100810

    FRESH install

I tried deleting the tab with the issues, but got an error, then the tab I replace it with recieved fields I had not manually added and shows the PHP errors.

“The tab may not be deleted while it contains the following required fields: 18,title”

“There was a problem saving your layout.  The following fields have invalid characters in the short names: missing_name”

It seems it’s trying to reference fields that were deleted so don’t have a name.

I can give you a login so you can see for yourself…

You mentioned the add-on PT Pill. Have you contacted Brandon for support?

You can close this ticket, as a work around I created a new channel, used the same fieldgroup (after getting it right) and then moving the content over to that (just a few entries). If you have any idea what the problem would be I’d still like to hear it. On my next EE 2.0 install I’ll try to replicate, I just have to get this job done!

Just let us know if you can replicate the problem on another site.. We’ll be here.
