Hi Chris,
Safecracker file does not comply with file size limit in the File upload preferences. When you upload a large file using safecracker, it redirects to a blank page.

It could have something to do with your PHP.ini settings. Many servers have a default max upload of 2,3, or 7mb, and a max script execution time. Both of which are factors when uploading large files.

I just noticed the same thing. I set an upload directory max file size to 1MB and I was able to upload a 5MB file. I tried with the native File fieldtype and received an error.
