Now that our site is no longer a collection of files but rather a database application, I’m wondering how one might capture a static archive. The objective is not to be able to roll back the site to a previous state, but rather to be able to simply view its contents as they existed at a previous time. Or is that a non-sequitur?

It’s an ugly looking application, but it’s the best web-archiver I’ve used, and does a really good job of running through ajax and finding all the links. This would be the simplest solution, as you could run a scan of your site, and upload it via ftp pretty easily.

We use this often when a client wants to upgrade a large site to ExpressionEngine, so that we make sure not to loose anything from the old host in terms of content.
