This question may be related to a resolved thread.

I’ve started to get this error when trying to create a new template. Has anyone else run into this before? Kind of lost as to what could be going on.

Can you tell us a little more? What version and build are you using? Where are you getting this error, attempting to do what?

My bad, I always forget to do this! I am running 2.1.0, build 20100810. The error is when I try to create a new template under the design tab.

What are you attempting to name the new channel?

I am attempting to name it test. Tried several different names, just in case.

    Hi Jerman,

Has this site been upgraded from an earlier build or version of EE 2.x? Are you using an .htaccess file to remove index.php from the site URLs?

    Cheers

    Greg

The answer is yes on both counts. I’ve been using this install since the first EE 2 public beta. Also, I have my system directory above the web root, just in case that makes any difference.

    Jerman,

Can I confirm you have been following the User Guide when doing a version or build update?
Maybe download most recent build again and redo the build update paying particular attention to Step 4 of the docs

That way we are sure you have the more recent version of all files.

Have you also been updating your themes as you upgraded?

I have been following the guide. I will update the themes just in case, but I am pretty sure I did. Will report back.

Updated the theme, still having the same error. Strange thing is say I go to make a new template, it goes through despite reporting the error. Would be happy to send login information to you guys to check it out yourselves, I am very stumped.

Jerman, have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies, then logging back in? You might try a different browser as well.

If that doesn’t work, remove your .htaccess from the picture to ensure it’s not affecting the control panel.
