Forum users are posting links to photobucke etc with spaces in the paths or picture names. Obviously EE doesn’t like the spaces with my setup ie

Just gives the Photobucket broken link icon. I’ve tried adding   in place of the space by editing the users post but this gets stripped out when saved.

Is there a way to set up EE to allow for spaces within the links?

What version and build are you using? How are these links created? That said, yes, spaces in links have the potential to be highly problematic, even illegal in URL unless properly escaped. It’s best to avoid them altogether.

The urls are simply created when a forum member posts a report and uses the img tag to copy in the link from photobucket.

Experianced users know that spaces shouldn’t be used but Joe Public tends to just publish and be dammed 😉

Can you post a link to one such post? When you replace spaces with % 20, does that work? It works on this forum, as you can see.

I’m just back from a week’s superb family holiday on the glorious Isle of Anglesey. It’s the first time I’ve been to Anglesey, and I made sure I put mine and the lads rods in and a few tackle essentials, mainly spinning and float gear.
The plan was to do family stuff during the day and hopefully get some fishing in during the evenings or very early mornings.

I suspect it’s the space after Anglesey in the paths, tried to replace space with   but it just gets stripped out. There may be a backend setting that I’m missing.

We’ve seen this sort of issue with Photobucket urls before. There really isn’t a workaround other than to not use images that have spaces in them. Sorry I don’t have better news for you.

Thanks, not what I wanted to hear really as our main opposition are able to accept spaces in links on their forum.

Is there a way of preventing EE from stripping out the edited   links? I suspect this may turn out to be a deal breaker for using EE in future as we cant really ask site members to follow strict instructions when they post.

If you are using [img ] [/img ] tags it should still work, does it not?

Nope, used the [img] tags with no success.

What I’d recommend is a feature request to change this functionality.
