I recently moved to a new host server and my new members are no longer receiving activation emails.  I am, however getting notification emails when new weblog entries are created.

    I checked my membership preferences:
    admin—> Members & Groups—> Membership Preferences

I think I have it all set up correctly, could this be an issue with my new host server?  It was working on the previous setup.

    Thanks in advance!

Do emails from Communicate make it through? Which version/build of ExpressionEngine 1.6.x are you using? You can find that out at the bottom of any control panel page.

    I am using 1.6.7

It’s interesting.  I ran some tests through Communicate.  I am not able to send to my ISP (liquamedia.com) but I can send emails to the hosting ISP (contwibute.org).  So naturally I started thinking my ISP might be blocking the activation emails.  So I tested with a third ISP (cox.net) and that didn’t go through either.

Then I sent a series of activation emails and the same issue happened - worked only for my new host email address.

I also received “Mail delivery failed:returning message to sender” emails for all of my tests.  Therefor the issue is obviously with my outbound mail server settings but I am not sure how to go about troubleshooting the issue.  I guess I will call my hosting company and report back.

    mklann,

What is the domain associated with the Return email address for auto-generated emails?

    Hi John,

I have it set to the contwibute.org domain.

After contacting my hosting company, they said that they would set up the reverse DNS for our external IP.  I later received an email that they had done that but as of yesterday it still was not working. Was going to give it a day to propagate and then investigate further.

For the record, I have also tested this using standard PHP outside of EE and the issue repeats itself so I am hoping that I am on the right track.
