Is it possible to place an expiration date on individual products so that they automatically become inactive and no longer appear for sale?  For example, I have a need to sell admittance to monthly seminars - each seminar will be a “product” and I’d like the seminar to no longer be available for purchase once the date of the seminar has passed.  It would also be helpful if one were to offer a seasonal item for sale as well…  Is this easy to do using the Simple Commerce module?

It would depend on how you setup your site. If you’ll use channel entries for your product, yes, those can have an expiration after which they’d simply disappear from the site, as it were.
