    Hey all,

Getting this error, and it’s been happening consistently when posting new entries over the past 3 days. We’ve been running EE for years without it, and we haven’t changed anything in our configuration or added any new add-ons. Just a few days ago it started happening, and it wasn’t happening before:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 81788928 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 4169192 bytes) in /var/www/vhosts/gearlive.com/****/***/db/db.mysql.php on line 406

Any idea why this might pop up, and how we can get it to go away? I know we can just up the PHP memory limit (which is currently at 78MB,) but I’m more wondering if it is normal for this not to have been happening before, and now all of a sudden it is.

Something requires more memory now than it did before. More, or longer, articles shown in your control panel, the blacklist being increased, anything like that. I am afraid the easiest solution would, in fact, be to increase the amount of memory—although I do wonder why it would need 78 MB (in and by itself a rather odd amount) for the control panel to begin with.

Not that odd. It was figured out based on the total amount of RAM in the server divided by how much RAM would be needed per user if we reached our max connection limit. 😉

This only happens when publishing a new article, or editing and saving an currently existing article. I guess I will just increase the memory limit. I was just wondering if the whole db.mysql.php on line 406 would give any sort of specific info 😉
