Hi anyone,

I’m new to EE and was wondering what peoples thoughts were about the best way to offer EE to my clients where they can edit both static content on my pages as well as add entries to different channels on the same pages.

For example, I have an events page that has some static content at the top of the page, an event channel with the latest 10 entries under that, several entries in various categories in a side bar, and some more static content at the bottom of the page.

What is the best way to offer a page like this so that the client can edit all the info - both static and entries/dynamic?

I’ve looked at structure but don’t really know how it works or if it fits what i’m describing.

My other thoughts were just to create a channel and have an entry for each page of static content on the site - not really very manageable though. Leevi G put me onto his addon (http://expressionengine-addons.com/nsm-transplant) which would help with this particular theory.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I actually use the approach you describe: create a new channel “static” that contains preset entries that the page includes by id or url_title.

It may not seem the most elegant, but it removes the need to update/test addons and gives you the same benefits as the standard entry (revisions, status, date expiration, category, image upload, etc.) so you could actually do some more complex things with static blocks of content based on status or categorization.
