I’m trying to upgrade an old client’s site from 1.5.2 to 1.6.9 and I’m encountering trouble getting the update to work.

I run the update per the 1.6.9 upgrade instructions and the upgrade seems to work as it ticks through all the version updates and when done asks if I would like to optimize my tables. I gladly accept however once I then try to visit the site and/or the admin area all I get is the dreaded blank white screen.

Thankfully I backed up and was able to roll back however I’m stymied on what to try next.

    Suggestions?

    Thanks!

Hi Sue - Thanks for the follow-up.

The memory limit is set for 40M.

    David,

Can you enable error reporting also please. Hopefully that will return a useful error.

Also clearing out your cache manually is a good step to take after an update like this. FTP into system/cache/ and delete all folders except index.html
