    Anybody know what’s happening here?

    A PHP Error was encountered

    Severity: Notice

    Message: Undefined variable: comment_system_enabled

    Filename: channel/mod.channel_standalone.php

    Line Number: 547

I’m adding a SAEF to a site someone else developed and I get the above error. EE2.1. Any help much appreciated.

What version and build of EE are you using? Any extensions?

    Ha, nice Avatar Ingmar!

EE2.1 build 20100810. Extensions are Matrix, P&T Field Pack and User. Any ideas?

I think it must be something to do with this channel. I updated to the latest build last night and now the publish page for that channel is screwy. Luckily that channel is currently empty, so I might try and recreate is and see if that fixes everything. Will update you.

    Ian,

On the Publish page for that channel, select all member groups in the sidebar and click Remove Layout. That should reset the layouts to default. Does that help?

Hi Brandon. Back on this today and I reset the publish page layout as you suggested. Unfortunately this didn’t cure my problem. Any other ideas?

Ian, have you tried disabling all your extensions at once?

Yikes! This is a live site, so can’t really do that.

    Ian,

Ruling out extensions as the culprit would be the next step. When you have a low traffic time, please do so and let us know the results.

Hi Brandon. I took a copy of the site into MAMP and disabled extensions. However the problem persists. What would be the next thing to check?

Update: The error shows up only if I include the allow_comments parameter. If I use a hidden field for allow_comments instead then all is well. I’m going to go that route for now, but if you have any ideas what might be happening I’d love to hear.

    Many thanks

Ian, glad you have a workaround for now. What code are you using for that field in your SAEF?

    I’m just using this:

    <input type="hidden" name="allow_comments" value="n" />

    So far so good.

So, we’re good. Up and running? Just checking back.
