    Hello EE,

    - The website in questions is: http://www.gazetaexpress.com
    - It’s hosted on MediaTemple (dv) 3.5 server with 2GB of RAM
    - Running on EE 1.6.9 (Build:  20100430)
    - The homepage is cached every 5 minutes and runs on 59 queries (71 total with 2 embeds)
    - The website gets roughly about 900 unique visitors per hour (Totaling 2500 visits/hr) — Mint Stats.

    Runtime information on MySQL has issues in the following areas, which are quite high and growing constantly.
    - Handler_read_rnd
    - Handler_read_rnd_next
    - Created_tmp_disk_tables

    We have contacted (mt) and they’ve said that “...database table indexes/keys are not being used properly…” (which is beyond my knowledge)

    ///

    Also, worked on my.cnf file a bit (backed up the original) and got the slow-queries to 0.

    ///

    My Questions are these:
    - Is there a way to ‘use indexes/keys properly’, &
    - Is there a general rule on how to set-up my.cnf properly to dance along with an EE installtion

    Cheers and looking forward to some help,
    Valon.

    Also, I have to mention that I’ve checked few past posts relating to Dreamhost issues. This post was the last resort regarding our specific issues.

    Cheers again, v.

    Is EE 1.x still supported OR is this issue way out there for not getting a response for so long 😊

    Hi, Valon - please see our support policy for how we handle support requests.

    EE 1 is absolutely supported.

    - Is there a way to ‘use indexes/keys properly’, &
    - Is there a general rule on how to set-up my.cnf properly to dance along with an EE installtion

    EE does index tables and use keys appropriately.  If there are particular cases that you are concerned about, please post a new thread about those.

    As for the .cnf file - this is something that should be optimized by an experienced database administrator and is beyond what we can offer EE technical support for.

    Thanks Lisa.

    I should be getting on EE2.0 already, no 😊

    Go ahead and close this one out. I’m passing on this one for now.

    Cheers, Valon.
