    I’m having the same problem I described earlier: If I add any line to the config.php file, I get a blank page. With the config file shown above, I get an unformatted, non-working login screen.  If I add any of the suggested conf statements, I get a blank screen.

    I’m flummoxed. Any ideas?

    Hey, Barry.. which build of EE1.6.9 are you on? I’m using an earlier version of MAMP, and don’t have the issue..

    I’m using build 20100430.

    I was getting a “deprecated command” error when I tried to access my home page, but when I shifted to the earlier version of php offered by MAMP (from 5.3.2 to 5.2.13), it solved that problem.

    But I’m still getting a blank screen when I add any lines to my config file.

    Looks like the guy over here http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/162965/P18/ solved his (similar) problem by editing the config file.

    Anyone have any ideas why adding lines to my config file results in a blank page when I try to access the cp?

    OK. I got this working.

    I was pasting the recommended additions into my config file.  It was apparently not pasting as ascii.  I ran bbedit’s convert to ascii command and was able to log in and get the site set up.

    Thanks to everyone for your help.

    Glad that the first item is sorted. But try adding just one item to your config.php file.

    I was able to add a statement to the config file. Sorry if that wasn’t clear.  The following statement cured the failed login problem:

    $conf['admin_session_type'] = "s";

    Glad to hear that fixed things. Ready to close the thread?

    Before we close this - did you want to use sessions permanently?  This change gets you into the CP but we can help try to figure out what was going on so that you don’t need to use sessions forever.
