I’m trying to sort out how to allow members to add more than one image to their profile. Portfolio if you like. So each member would be allowed to attach an allowed number of images to their profile. Solspace’s User module lets you modify and expand the base set of data for a profile, but more from the perspective of adding more text based information. This idea would require an upload field for images. I could be wrong about User module though. Any advice?

The best approach is to probably look at a combination of a profile, and a channel where each member is assigned one post. All images would go in the channel.  Custom member fields just aren’t that flexible - nor do the 3rd party addon field types work for them.
