text pasted into an editable area from outside the browser does not work.

You can copy the contents of a clipboard to that area from within mojomotor, but from outside it does not paste.

You can see exactly what I am talking about here: http://www.thisflapfirst.com/mojo3.mov

That was just raw text. No special formatting. I cut the same text into these forums just fine.

Thanks for following up on this. Give me the weekend to play around and test - I think I know what’s going on.

OK, this has me confused now, I admit 😊

I retyped your content, and used the exact same software. I wonder if this got impacted by another change in 1.0.1. Could I ask you to download the latest version, and see if you still experience this?

That said, what I thought was going on was this. The underlying editor here is CKEditor. It has taken great steps to allow for pasting from a Word document. I thought maybe there was a glitch there, but I’m not seeing it. I want to be clear that I am NOT doubting that you see this (obviously), only that I’m not seeing it. If I can’t see it, it makes it hard to fix. Could I ask you to get another sample document that acts oddly for you, and zip it up here so that I can try with your exact document.

    Thanks.

I’ll download the latest version, but I did spot one difference between your movie and mine, and it seems to make a difference.

You have your Text Edit set to rtf. I use mine as raw .txt. When I cut from rtf it works fine. When it’s txt you get the issue.

I can even cut a txt doc, paste to an rtf, cut from there, and it pastes in fine.

Now you have something you may be able to reproduce!

[Update: I am now on 1.0.1 with the same behavior.]

I have the same issue.  On my Mac (haven’t tried it on a Windows PC).  If I use Cmd-V to try and paste it doesn’t work.  If I view the source its a whole lot of junk.  However, if I right click and select Paste then it pops up the paste dialog (which needs a bit of styling done to it i might add: http://cl.ly/8c282132d8168f513799 ). Then I can cmd-v paste the text into that, click OK, and it pastes.

This is an issue with CKEditor. This bug here describes the issue: http://dev.ckeditor.com/ticket/5144  It leaves div tags in there that it shouldn’t, which hides the data.  The bug says it is for Chrome only (which switching to Firefox fixed the issue for me), but I guess breaks in your Firefox as well.

It is supposedly fixed in version 3.2: http://rev.ckeditor.com/ckeditor/trunk/5119/CHANGES.html (#5144).

As a work around just right click and select Paste…it will work that way.

    Dan’s solution does indeed work.

I was thinking that even if not, probably not the world’s biggest show stopper. I am the only person on the planet I know that writes primarily in plain txt (twenty years of writing docs and never once had to worry about if my files are compatible with the recipient).

I am honestly not setting out to find weird errors. It would also be cool if this is fixable, but if it’s isolated to plain txt only I am fine with it.

Nope, we’ll absolutely get it fixed up for you Christopher. Thanks for finding and reporting (and thanks to Dan… for being a mojo force of nature).

I’ve got this squared away for the next release. Sorry for the inconvenience. It sounds like you’re ok to work around for now, but if you need updated files, let me know.
