There will never be an updated galley module. It is one of the stupidest things Ellis Labs has done, and then the fact that there has been no update since the release of 2.0 is even more absurd.

any good 3rd party solutions out there? I don’t mind paying.
If not, it looks like a good market for someone!

I have a client that upgraded to 2.x and lost all gallery support. This has been a CONSTANT headache for us as the upgrade was part of a move to a new server (and newer version of PHP) so rolling back to 1.x isn’t an option. So now the client is left with an expensive website that hasn’t been updated in several months due to a broken CMS, and only this in the way of any hope of a fix:
As I said, this is something that we’re working on; we just don’t have it yet.
We are actively working on this.
It’s planned that the 2.3 release will see us able to actually import the 1.x galleries and provide all existing gallery functionality. And hopefully 2.2 will give us some feedback on how we can add significantly to what we had in 1.x.
2.3 is looking to be out end of Aug/beginning of Sept. That said- the full gallery functionality has been moved to 2.4, which should be another 2 months after 2.3.
As of 2.4 I’m quite sure this option still doesn’t exist.. Seriously, what’s going on?
