EE site manager won't allow publishing to certain weblogs

Not sure how to explain this one but I’ll give it a shot:

I’m able to use the Site Manager for publishing to almost all of our weblogs, can create, edit, alter templates, etc. Everything works just fine—except when trying to publish to one weblog. The site manager just doesn’t load the page. The status bar occassionally will move to about 50% like it’s going to open the publish dialog but it does not. I often have to clear private data and cache to use the Site Manager but even this little trick is not working.

The weblog in question does publish videos so I’m assuming that has something to do with it. But I’m not sure.

Has anyone ran into this issue in some form?

    Thanks.

What version and build of EE are you using? How much RAM does your PHP environment have?

    Version 1.6.8
    Build 20090723

No idea on the RAM—not even sure where to find that out.

The publish function worked fine until just recently. So I’m not sure if it’s a RAM issue or something within one of the modules was updated or altered. Nothing was changed on our end so I’m just stumped as to why it’s starting down it now.

Let us know what the server reports. We recommend 32-64MB minimum.

    Yes:

    LG Polls: Poll Question (v.1.0.6)
    LG Polls: Controller (v.1.0.6)
    Foxee Extension (v.1.10.51.028)
    Video Extension (v.1.5.4)
    FieldFrame (v.1.3.4)
Stand Alone Entry Form Redirect (v.1.0.1)
jQuery for the Control Panel (v.1.1.1)
    Low NoSpam (v.1.0.4)

    Also:
    LG .htaccess Generator (v.1.0.0)
    But it’s disabled.

Let’s have you temporarily turn off extensions via the green button in the Extension Manager and see if there’s any change. I’d also see if you still have to clear private data and cache to use the Site Manager periodically once extensions are disabled.

Stupid question but—if I disable those extensions will that have an impact on how our site functions? I’m pretty sure we use all of those extensions in our site build.

Yes, the idea is to temporarily disable them to see if you can publish to that one weblog. If you can, we’ll know it’s an extension issue. You can enable extensions again once you’ve done the test.

Yep. Definitely an extensions issue. I assume now I disable each one by one and then figure out which extension is the problem. Then figure out the problem within the problem. Will do that next.

Looks like disabling the field frame extension allows publishing to that weblog. So I’m assuming there is something in that. But I’m not sure what to do about it—or why it started causing an issue.

You might try upgrading to 1.6.9 and making sure you’ve got the latest version of FF installed. Beyond that, you’d need to work with the extension author. It’s a good question, but one we can’t answer, unfortunately.

No problem, thansen. Going ahead and closing as this appears to be a third-party issue. Feel free to start a new thread as necessary.
