    Hi all,

Cannot figure out best arrangement for a site I’m building, especially interested in search performance down the line when the weblogs get larger.

We have 14 individual regional blogs, which each need to have really 3 entries, becaues they will display on 3 separate sub sites, in 3 different langauges.

One choice is to have 42 separate blogs:

    region1-engligh
    region1-french
    region1-spanish
    region2-english
    region2-french
    etc.

2.One blog per region, and have the languages as categories.  Then I would have 14 blogs, with 3 categories each.  (don’t like this because potentially difficult for CMS admins to understand).

    3. Have one french blog, that has the categories of region1, region2, region3, etc.

My question is—in terms of search performance, and general site performance, is it better to have more small blogs, or fewer larger ones?  I am not worried about templating, because I can make that dynamic so I can have minimal templates no matter which option I choose.

Is there a downside to having 42 blogs??

    Thanks,

    Phoebe

I think I’d go with option 3, one weblog per language, regions broken down as categories. Of course you could also use the MSM.

There is no real downside to using 40 or so weblogs, no, even if the CP might become a bit unwieldy.
