Is there a way to assign images in the Photo Gallery Module to more than one category?

What version and build are you using? It’s been a while since I worked with the Gallery module, but I think you should be able to do it the same was a regular entries, ie just select multiple entries (keeping the Ctrl key pressed) in the control panel. Doesn’t that work?

Thanks for the idea. However, it doesn’t seem to want to work that way. I’m on a Mac though, and I will try it out on a Windows platform soon.

Tested in WindowsXP as well and there is not an option to select multiple categories for the images in the Photo Gallery Module in ExpressionEngine 1.6. Any other ideas?

that is correct there is no way of selecting multiple categories in the Gallery Module.
The only workaround to this is to drop the Gallery module and start using Weblogs for your gallery which by far surpass the parameters and variables available for the gallery.
The only cavet is batch upload won’t be available to you.
Just to also note that the Gallery Module has been dropped for EE2.x
