    Hi,

I’m having trouble uploading mp4 files using the file upload tool.

I’ve enable all file types - and tested using .flv / .mp3 / .pdf / .avi all upload fine.

...but mp4 files display the following error.

The file type you are attempting to upload is not allowed.

Unlike EE1 there doesn’t seem to be a place to add file extension exceptions… do I need to add an exception to the config file to allow .mp4?

    Thanks!

There is, it can be found in .../system/expressionengine/config/mimes.php. Please add your file type there.

    Hi,

still can’t get EE to upload .mp4 files… I’ve added the following the the mimes.php file - is there something else I need to be doing?

    'mp4'    =>    'video/mp4'

No, that should be it. Since it’s an array you probably need a comma after the closing mark. Just look at the line above.

I’m having the same problem. This is my line: ‘mp4’ => array(‘video/mpeg’, ‘video/mp4’),

    Edit:
It would seem the problem is with MAMP. Probaly it isn’t sending the mime type for the file, thus EE is confused.

Has any one solved this problem before with MAMP that you know of?
Should EE handle this better? Eg. what should it say when there is no mime type, instead of just “Your file type isn’t allowed”.

At that moment, EE doesn’t even know what file type it is - How can it say that it isn’t allowed?

    Hi Fred,

Have you tested this out outside of MAMP on a live server at all?

If this is just a problem with MAMP and it works fine on a live server then I’m afraid we wouldn’t be able to fix that for you as ExpressionEngine would be doing what it’s supposed to here.

Are you able to test this out on a live server at all?

As an aside what version of ExpressionEngine are you testing this out on and do you possibly have a (small preferably) test file that doesn’t work for you that you could upload to the net somewhere so I can give this a go myself?

    Thanks,

    Mark
