I really don’t know where the correct place to submit this so I’m just guessing this might be the place…

We have developed a multi-language extension for EE 2.0: Biber Ltd. Multi Language Support.

This time we have bigger plans to make front-end multi language support more automated and seemless therefore we are releasing the extension commercially.

You can find more information on how to obtain, install & use the extension at the official wiki.

If you need a free implementation we can also give you a helping hand in your development process.

    Hi biberltd,
Can you tell us how does it relate to back end and making an entry? Do you still have to use translation utility to make your own language files first? I guess I am not following how it differs from setting a default language in General Configuration.
    Thanks for sharing.

You need to create your own language files but main purpose of this extension is to ease the process of bringing multi language suport to your channels. In the wiki there is a actually simple use case scenario.

If you define two custom fields for an entry i.e. title_en for English and title_tr for Turkish; using an if statement you can easily instruct ExpressionEngine to show the title in requested language. The extension creates the mechanism and registers global variables necessary.

For example if somebody access your site with this url: http://yoursite.com/en/ he/she sees the site in English including the channel entries. If he/she accesses the site http://yoursite.com/tr/ he/she sees the site in Turkish.

Basically you can let your users and visitors to switch back and forth languages. It also auto detects visitor languages based on their prior visits or browser. Also the helper plugin makes it easy to output any language text without enabling PHP in templates.

I’m not sure if I could have answered your question but feel free to get into more details if you need.
