I am not finding the Photo Gallery in the documentation, so I assume that it is being discontinued in 2.0?? What is the suggested solution for converting the Galleries that I have? It is not great, but it works.
Is there a way to make links in the Photo captions open with target=“_blank” so that folks do not leave my site?

The Gallery is no longer part of EE 2, that much is correct. Many people have been using the Weblog module with EE 1; the recommended way is to use the new Channel module for galleries.
