    Hi,

I just bought EE 1.6.9, and some addons.  I have installed EE before, but I need to do something a little trickier.

    1.  i need to create a dev environment on my mac os x 10.6.4, using an exising MAMP setup that is serving some other codeigniter sites and data.

    2.  later i will need to move my setup to a box on rackspace.

I am unsure of the process, both for licensing reasons and technical reasons…..

    Should I:

    a. install EE core on MAMP.  There is a lot of documentation for this.  But no documentation on installing full EE on MAMP.  Will the EECore be a full enough stystem that i can develop all my add-ons and modules and test it before moving to rackspace?

    b. are there any instructions out there about installing the full EE package on a MAMP system, and if I do install EE locally, will I have a problem ‘reinstalling it’ in a few months on the live box?

Thanks so much for your help. I have never had to move EE before and never worked with MAMP before, so I’m not quite sure of the processes.

You can install either Core or the “full” version; the procedure is virtually identical, there are just a few modules missing with Core.

Personally I’d go with the full version. No, re-installing won’t be an issue.
