I use Aweber and have for years.  I used to run my own mail software on my hosted server.  That was short lived.  Mailchimp is another great suggestion.

Using such software or services is not just for marketing a product.  It’s the best way to send many emails.  Your host isn’t going to appreciate you sending out 100 emails to people from your Outlook client in a single batch.  That is how your IP eventually gets blacklisted.  So even if you collect people who are truly interested, it’s still a good idea to use some type of hosted software.  The provider of such, like Aweber, has a vested interest in keeping their servers clean and off blocklists so your mail gets delivered.

The Wordpress blog I setup recently to help educate consumers (mostly my mom because she kept watching Dr Oz and falling for those things What is Garcina Cambogia is going to use Aweber.  But double opt in to avoid people getting on a list they don’t want to be on.

If you just have a few people.. don’t bother.  I wouldn’t sign up until I hit 50 people or more.

    Summary:

    Aweber
    Mailchimp

Both services I see most people who are happy with email services using.

    Hey all,

Am looking for an email marketing system that can work with database tables directly or has a really good api.

We have a client who has a rewards points card system so has. So would be looking to do custom triggers eg if a customer reaches a certain number of points send an offer with a tracking code in it. And have the offer data feed back into the system at the point of sale.

Can anybody recommend anything, service or in-house?

Also an email marketer recently told me if you go down the route of hosting your own solution you are more likely to end up on the spam registers because your not actively in communication with them to keep your ips clean. They seemed to think it was quite a big problem. Can anyone comment on this?

    Thanks a lot

Are people still using email campaigns? (when i say people I exclude spammers)
