Back to the Expression Engine help forums! Never got any of my previous requests fixed, but maybe this will be my lucky day.

I can’t log into Expression Engine for some reason. We have a new intern who logged in for the first time today, but I don’t see how that could matter as several us work inside Expression Engine with the same log in info all the time.

Now when I try to log in, I get this:

    MySQL ERROR:

    Error Number: 1062

Description: Duplicate entry ‘1’ for key ‘member_id’

    Query: INSERT INTO `exp_sessions` (`admin_sess`, `session_id`, `last_activity`, `user_agent`, `ip_address`, `member_id`, `site_id`) VALUES (‘1’, ‘08bb1fcdf2e99539bce3b23c617b64df2c265fad’, ‘1278468220’, ‘Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en’, ‘201.120.80.251’, ‘1’, ‘1’)

    Any ideas?

It looks like a minor corruption of your database. Can you try to use PHPMyAdmin or something similar to repair it? exp_sessions in particular.

I have no idea what that means. Could you please provide detailed instructions on how to do that?

Take a look at this information from another site:

    http://www.siteground.com/tutorials/phpmyadmin/phpmyadmin_optimize_database.htm

    Does that help?

Please try to repair your database. You will need a program like PHPMyAdmin for this (there are many others). This is a hosting issue, consider asking your server admin for assistance.

Let us know how you get along and if this was, in fact, the root of this issue 😊 Thanks.

Just got this message back from the programmer that we have to pay to fix issues that were supposed to be covered by Expression Engine support:

“It wasn’t Media Temple, it was the expression engine “sessions” table.”

Unfortunately I don’t understand. Yes, it looks like the ‘exp_sessions’ had become corrupted somehow. If I’m on the right track here repairing that table (or the whole db, if you want) is all that it should take. Your host should be able to do this for you, or tell you how to do it. It is not necessary to involve a programmer.

From our programmer “When I made the fix I also repaired and optimized the sessions table.”

Which is what I had suggested, yes. Does it take care of the issue?
