Hi, I need to create a super admin account (top level admin) but I need to stop that user from deleting the main Super Admin account.
How can I do this?

I don’t think that you can. Superadmins, by definition, are all-powerful administrative users. If you don’t trust somebody completely, don’t make them Superadmins.
Even if you had EE check the group_id of the other user, a Superadmin could just run some arbitrary SQL to effect that.

I’ve created a new group called Top Level Admin but given them all the rights, however only some sections are accessible by Super Admins yet the Top Level Admin appears to have the rights to delete the Super Admin Account.
Is this correct?

Have you actually tried it with a real Superadmin account? I don’t think a non-Superadmin can delete such an account, but other Superadmins should be able to.

I know it’s been a while since this thread started, but just thought I’d confirm Ingmar’s post. I set up a test Super Admin, and generic Admin and only Super Admins can delete a Super Admin account.
The tricky thing is that it lets you get all the way through the process and then gives you the “error” message after you confirm that you want to delete the account.
Not a big deal in light of the more pressing issues that EL is working on, but it seems like a nice feature would be to not even show the Delete option (or really any management options for the Super Admin).

ramseymedia, why not add this as a Feature Request?
