Let’s have you completely delete your 2.1 installation and re-upload the files from the download package using a different FTP client. It sounds like your files aren’t making it to the server completely intact.

I guess 5th time’s a charm. Hostmonster servers crashed for about an hour this afternoon - maybe there was a server problem brewing while I was trying to install before?
Anyway, all seems to be well, and I’m looking forward to exploring 2.1.
