    Maybe you have looked into it already, but just in case someone is having the same insanely frustrating caching issues I had.

    Thanks for the suggestion Kelly, but unfortunately this doesn’t resolve the issues I’m seeing.

    As described above, my system folder is above web root. I’ve also tried adding a separate .htaccess file to the system folder, with the same expiration rules as detailed in your original thread, to no avail.

    Cheers,
    Stephen

    Davor, are you also putting your system folder above the web root? (Trying to find the common denominator.)

    Hey Sue

    No, I have only changed system folder name.
    This is what I have in my htaccess

    #compress html, css, javascript
    AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/html
    AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/css
    AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/javascript
    AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE application/javascript
    AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE application/x-javascript

    BrowserMatch ^Mozilla/4 gzip-only-text/html
    BrowserMatch ^Mozilla/4\.0[678] no-gzip
    BrowserMatch \bMSIE !no-gzip !gzip-only-text/html

    # Remove IE image toolbar
    <FilesMatch "\.(html|htm|php)$">
      Header set imagetoolbar "no"
    </FilesMatch>

    #Cache
    <FilesMatch "\.(jpg|jpeg|png|gif|swf)$">
    Header set Cache-Control "max-age=604800, public"
    </FilesMatch>
    <FilesMatch "\.(xml|txt|css|js)$">
    Header set Cache-Control "max-age=604800, proxy-revalidate"
    </FilesMatch>

    <IfModule mod_headers.c>
    # any Header directives go here
    </IfModule>

    <IfModule mod_expires.c>
    ExpiresActive On
    ExpiresDefault A604800
    ExpiresByType application/x-javascript A604800
    ExpiresByType text/css A604800
    </IfModule>

    I hope there is something that could be possible issue

    Hi Davor,

    Please temporarily disable all those caching rules and test this again. You should not need them when using EE.

    Cheers

    Hi Stephen,

    The video that you posted; was that when running locally on MAMP on or an external MT server? Can you confirm the same behaviour when using both the Default and Fruit themes? I’m sorry to keep asking you to recheck but we are having difficulty reproducing this. Can you also confirm that this behaviour occurs when all 3rd party addons are disabled?

    Cheers

    Greg

    @Hey Greg,
    I disabled al rules, and for what I could test from few common actions where I noticed the problem, the problem is gone. I guess that headers were making the issue.
    If I notice further issues, I will notice you.

    thanks!

    That was on the MT server.

    It does. Further videos here, and here. The second one in particular is interesting; it appears that filtering the channel entries after paging through the results on the edit screen works just fine.

    It’s worth mentioning that—every now and again—everything work swimmingly. For example, the first time I tried with the “Default” theme, everything appeared to work. The second, and all subsequent times, the problem reappeared.

    Can you also confirm that this behaviour occurs when all 3rd party addons are disabled?

    That’s going to take a bit longer. I’ll need to create a fresh installation, as I can’t really go messing about with this client site too much. I’ll let you know once I’ve done that.

    Cheers,
    Stephen

    Thanks for the effort Stephen. Let us know you results.

    Quick question. In your videos. Did you edit out the preview page after submitting an entry or are you bypassing it in some way?

    An excellent question. I have SC Publish Redirect installed, which I would have mentioned earlier had I not long-forgotten about it.

    Stephen,

    That might be a good place to start when you are eliminating 3rd party add-ons

    I’ve just tried disabling SC Publish Redirect, and it made no discernable difference; exactly the same erroneous behaviour as previously documented in this thread.

    I’ll get on with that bare install test just as soon as I’ve got rid of these pesky clients.

    Cheers,
    Stephen

    I am experiencing the same issue in that when I am using Safari and the Control Panel and go to an area such as Channel Management or Category Management and either attempt to add new Categories and/or Channels, I am frequently presented with a blank white page when I submit.  It is not limited to these areas, however, and often just attempting to publish a new Entry will result in the blank page as well.  In Safari 5, I have to reset Safari and log back in.  I have not noticed the issue when running Chrome so I have had to abandon Safari completely as the issue constantly occurs.

    I am running a clean install of EE2.1.3 on MediaTemple (gs) and using Safari 5 on OSX 10.6.6.  I have no 3rd party plugins/addons and have made no changes to .htaccess.

    Hi kerryimeade,

    Welcome to the forums!

    It seems as though MediaTemple is a common factor here. Can you please install a local version using XAMPP/MAMP or similar and confirm whether this issue persists with Safari?

    Cheers

    It’s worth mentioning that I still have the same issue when running sites on MAMP.

    Also, I set up a bare-bones EE2 site the other day, and once again encountered a bunch of problems in Safari. To be honest, I’d completely forgotten about this thread, so just cursed roundly and opened Chrome without investigating further. However, it does confirm that these issues are still present in the latest EE build when using Safari, both on MAMP and MT.

    Cheers,
    Stephen
