Hello,

I am EE 1.6.9 and was wanting to set the User Session Type to Cookies and Session ID. However, it seems to completely wipe out my website.

This is what my url becomes:

http://www.website.com/en/S=e62ed151f64bd309d1e471150d9ed85a21c0b7fa/group/template/

But then the page itself is blank with server message saying the page cannot be found.

Am I missing a setting somewhere ????

Also, maybe someone can also advise on whether the session ID will actually help keep content in forms etc if a user decides to use the browser back and forward buttons ??? As this is why I wanted to change the User Session Type from Cookies only to Cookies and Session ID.

It looks like you’re removing index.php from your URLs. Those rewrite rules are likely conflicting when the Session ID appears in the URL.

In any case, I don’t think using Session IDs on the front-end will help keep content in forms when moving forward or backward. That behavior is browser-specific. The only surefire way to retain form data like that would be to periodically submit it to the server in the background (AJAX). In my experience most browsers these days do a good job of retaining that information, though.

Long story short: Stick to cookies only on the front-end. Hope that helps.
