    Hi Sue,

I have managed to get it to now point to the new database, but cannot get phpmyadmin to find the location (using exactly the same as my previous website… and it is on the same “server” just a different account username, password and database.

    http://www.yourlifechoices.com.au/phpmyadmin/

    Comes up with the error

    phpMyAdmin - Error

Cannot start session without errors, please check errors given in your PHP and/or webserver log file and configure your PHP installation properly.

Any ideas would be appreciated, thinking i will try and reinstall phpmyadmin tomorrow if none (seems like a difficult process with their notes but must be done im guessing).

    Cheers,
    Drew

*Update*, Trying to bypass the phpmyAdmin atm and attempting to get hosts to just duplicate the database file from old server to new (which they were meant to do in the first place) , will update in 6 hours when i wake and get into work 😛

Keep us posted; it sounds like the new server has some issues. My personal suggestion is to switch to a *NIX-based server while you still can.

    Hi All,

I’m trying to get the phpMyAdmin working and it seems there is a slight error that i cannot figure out after transfering all the data over.

There are a couple of threads regarding it but not to do with fixes for Expression Engine, only for other sites.

    http://wiki.phpmyadmin.net/pma/session.save_path

    and

    http://www.electrictoolbox.com/phpmyadmin-cannot-start-session-without-errors/

The Strange thing is obviously my Database is getting information… but its just the interface for PHP my Admin that is not working for me… but i just cannot figure it out?

Been trying to get my Web Host to input my old database into the new one (the minor techs saying they only do it through phpmyadmin) but i’m sure the senior techs can just duplicate the database in the place of the other.. sigh.

Either way i am going to have to try figure this out. Any Suggestions would be appreiciated… might be as simple as having to change a file i havn’t changed with username and password (tried adding to config but didn’t help so i removed again)

    DrewP,

I’m afraid this is out of the scope of the Technical Support forum for EE but you could try our General forum for some help from our community regarding this specific issue that has forked from your original issue.

Have you checked to see if you have phpMyAdmin set-up on your account already? A lot of the time with hosting you get access to phpMyAdmin but you don’t actually physically see it in the root of your server as a directory.

    Hi John,

I have worked my way around having to use PHPMyAdmin to at least get the website up and going by getting the hosting company (after 3 days) to finally duplicate our old server and its working as it should be which is a good sign.

Thanks all for your answers to my questions, has helped along the way!

    Cheers,
    Drew
