I want to allow my client to add new members and to put them into the appropriate group, but I can’t figure out how to do that without giving her super-admin status, which I don’t want to do.

At this particular point in time, this functionality isn’t supported. You might want to add a Feature Request or add to an existing one.

OK - thanks Sue. I’ll put it in as a feature request. Guess I’ll just have to promote her and warn her away from areas where she could do a lot of damage.

And for reference here is the aforementioned feature request. Thanks, flojnel.

flojnel - an update for you. Lisa pointed out that the option does exist - when you edit a member group, take a look under the Control Panel Administration setting. They’ll need, at a minimum:
* Can administrate members accounts
* Can change the group that a member is assigned to (Unlocked groups only)
Then you’ll need to ensure that any group you want them to assign new members to is Unlocked (under the Security Lock section of the same page). Hope that helps.
