Every community likes a good conference right? Well for most of us the only option for a CodeIgniter conference has been EECICONF which has run twice now in Leiden and San Francisco.

Sadly (for some) these conferences tend to be heavily weighted towards ExpressionEngine and using CodeIgntier to develop Add-ons for ExpressionEngine. This is great for any developers like myself who are interested in both, but for those of you with no interest in ExpressionEngine you will find yourself paying rather a lot for talks that may not be of any interest to you.

The answer to this is CICON2010! We have secured sponsorship from EllisLab themselves and Isset.nl to run this conference and we have got the ticket prices down to as low as £20 for day one, £10 for day two!

    Date

    14th & 15th August 2010

Yes, this is only two months away, but tickets are on sale now.

    Speakers

    Adam Griffiths
    CodeIgniter 2.0
Adam has authored CodeIgniter 1.7 Professional Development; the first advanced CodeIgniter book, gives an overview of what’s new with CodeIgniter 2.0, how to upgrade your applications and a detailed overview of how to create drivers.

    Phil Sturgeon
Running an Open Source CodeIgniter Project
Phil is the lead developer for PyroCMS; a modular CodeIgniter Content Management System and works with CodeIgniter every day. He shares his experiences running PyroCMS. How to get things right and how to organise everybody involved.

    Elliot Haughin
    Socializing with CodeIgniter
Elliot is a freelance CodeIgniter developer and author of many CodeIgniter related libraries. He will give a talk on how to integrate social networks into your CodeIgniter application, and more importantly why and when to do it. The new Facebook platform will take centre stage in this talk.

    Joel Gascoigne
    CodeIgniter for Startups
Joel runs his own startup, OnePage, a site dedicated to giving out interactive contact cards. He shows how he has used CodeIgniter in his startup OnePage to formulate ideas into reality and continually improve your ideas to form a business model.

    Dean Howe
Getting up and running with CodeIgniter
Dean is an experienced freelancer who generally stays quiet, this will be a great opportunity to hear from a man who has been successfully using CodeIgniter in real life projects for several years. He will be talking about how to start using CodeIgniter, MVC and how to convert PHP classes into CodeIgniter libraries.

    Kevin Prince
    Talk to be announced
Kevin is a CodeIgniter developer well known for his active support and also for his role in organising BarCamp London.

More information can be found on our website.

Let us know what you think, and post up here if you will be coming.

Man, I’d love to go to this.  If it wasn’t for the 10 hour airline trip from Arizona…. :(

Please, please, please take videos of the sessions.  I’d be happy to pay whatever to get session videos on DVD or downloads after.

There will most likely be a US version too, but that is a while off. We’ll be recording videos and making a CodeIgniter Podcast: CICON2010 Special with some of the best stuff for those that can’t make it to the UK.

It would be great to meet you: “the competition”. We can get some pugile sticks with our CMS logos on the ends and see who wins in a deathmatch.

    Likewise.

Altough I’m not sure we’re “competition” (Don’t let the name fool you, long story. Maybe over a pint. 😊 )

I’m self employed as well… but with family and kids, weekends are difficult.

The weekend is much more compatible for students, freelancers and people working in the week. That is who we are aiming for, but there is no time that will be perfect for everyone.

Why not bring the family along for a short holiday in Bristol?

What area are you in? We are starting in Bristol then moving all around the country (if this goes well). There will be a series in USA too.
