    Hey all,

I’m super sorry if this has been posted here before - I searched and couldn’t find a record of it anywhere.  My issue is a minor one, but it’s big enough to be really annoying.  Basically, my control panel login page is at http://example.com/system/index.php.  However, I should also be able to access the CP and log in at http://example.com/system/.  I can’t.

I suspected that .htaccess was to blame, but I disabled Leevi’s extension, then tried my own simplified .htaccess file, and then got rid of it completely.  Still no luck.  I’m sure it’s something small that I’m overlooking.  Any ideas?

    Hi bitmanic, a few things:

    1. Which version and build of EE are you using?
    2. What exactly happens when you hit http://example.com/system ?
    3. If you place just this single-line .htaccess file in your system directory, does that have any effect?

    DirectoryIndex index.php

    Hey Brandon,

Sorry for not including this info.  I’m a numbskull.  I’m using EE1.6.9 Build 20100415, and http://example.com/system/ simply renders the public homepage of my site.  Adding that line to the .htaccess file does indeed fix the problem.  Is there a better way to go about this, or should I always include this line in my .htaccess file?

    Thanks again, Brandon.

Glad that works, but ideally your server should be configured to recognize index.php as a valid default without you having to explicitly specify it. Talk to your host/server admin about making that change for you.
