In-context editor for EE - something like a MojoMotor plugin?

    Hi There,

We currently use Squarespace for simple sites (It’s good up until a point but we find it very restrictive) and Modx when we need more flexibility - but we’re not developers so have been using Modx plugins when we need extra functionality.

Although we see some discussion (or even people dismissing) in-context editing around the net, it’s become obvious our clients absolutely love managing content in Squarespace and it’s next to impossible to get them to switch.

We’re thinking of migrating to a single CMS that is more flexible than SS and noticed that MojoMotor will allow users to upgrade to EE - so wondered if they share similar code bases?

With this in mind, does anyone know if there are plans for a version of MojoMotor that would allow it to run as some sort of in-context editor for EE?

Or if there’s something similar (or plans for one) available for EE?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

    Ben

EE 2 and MM are both built on CodeIgniter, but they are very different products with different target audiences.

ExpressionEngine does not have out of the box in-line editing the way MojoMotor does.  What you can do is set up Inline Editing for your content.  That article does rely on the Form Helper plugin from Solspace which is not ready for EE 2, so that article - as it stands - will not work for EE 2 at this time.  However someone could certainly come up with an EE 2 solution for this.

I hope that helps, cmcss.  Right now if you wanted front-end, in-line editing for EE 2 you would have to build your own add-on for it.

    Ben,

I’ve got a inline editing prototype in the works right now for EE2 as a module. Hope to have something presentable in the next couple of weeks.
